Reading Counts
Students in the elementary are using
Reading Counts, a computer based quiz program that is only
available at school. Students in grades 2-6 are given
monthly Reading Counts points goals to achieve. If a
student achieves his or her goal by the last school day of
the month he or she will be rewarded with Book Break Time.
Book Break Time is a break from class doing different
activities each month.
Reading Minutes Books
Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade
are asked to read a certain amount of minutes per month on
their own or with an adult. This time helps them to
gather book knowledge and grow as a reader. If a
student achieves his or her minutes goal by turning in his
or her minutes book on the last school day of the month he
or she will be rewarded with Book Break Time. Book
Break Time is a break from class doing different activities
each month.
As the students progress they may move up
to doing Reading Counts quizzes instead of Minutes Books.
